Pepper couldn't believe she was going through with this. It all started months ago when she was performing one of her least favorite duties. In her more bitchy moments she refered to it as taking out Tony's trash. Basically it involved escorting Tony's 'date' for the evening out on the walk of shame and making sure they got back home or to their hotel.
That particular night's date was a prostitute of all things that Tony had picked up with her in the car no less. Pepper couldn't see the appeal honestly, but she knew better than to say something to Tony about it. Things had been different between them ever since they broke up. Pepper truly loved Tony, but there was something he needed that she couldn't give him. And it was painful watching him pretend that he was satisfied with her.
So she was walking around the room picking up clothing when the woman spoke up "He does love you you know" . Pepper was so taken by surprise that she didn't immediately reply back with the biting comment that would have come from her mouth in response to someone prying into her personal life. Looking back on it she almost wished she had been able to make that biting reply, but no. No matter how uncomfortable that conversation had made her she had gotten insight into Tony's mind and heart that she appreciated.
The hooker whose name was Jenny had revealed to her that one of the reasons that she and Tony hadn't worked was because Tony had needed an outlet for his wildness that she hadn't been able to provide. Tony had always been a bit wild, a thrill seeker for as long as she knew him. The problem was that she had always been waiting for him to settle down and become more responsible. After the whole Iron Man thing she had thought he was becoming more settled. And he honestly had made the attempt for her, but it left him unsatisfied. She'd seen it, even if she hadn't understood why he was feeling it.
She'd ending up going out to lunch with Jenny while they continued their conversation about Tony. She explained that she had seen it before to a lesser extent in other men. One of the most common reasons married men used prostitutes wasn't because they didn't love their wives. It was because those wives didn't satisfy all their needs and they felt uncomfortable asking them to. So they used prostitutes which had a lower chance of emotional involvement than having a mistress.
Jenny had explained that Tony still loved her very much, one of the reasons he picked her apparently was a passing resemblence between the two and Jenny said he called out her name in the moment last night.
Jenny advised her to get involved in some of his thrill seeking. Fast cars and other adventures if she really wanted to make it work she would also have to become more adventurous in the bedroom. Being open to threesomes and exhibitionism and maybe doing it in odd places if she wanted to satisfy Tony. And maybe being open to allowing him to stray some as long as she knew about it.
And so she tried out some of Tony's adventures. They went motorcycle racing, hang gliding, and more. And their relationship steadily improved to the point it was back where it was before they started dating. There was just that last step, and boy was it a doozy. Pepper had always been a bit conservative about sex. Work came first and sex was something a commited couple did in the bedroom occasionally and then went to sleep. The idea of being liberal with sex made her uncomfortable, but she knew that she needed to do this so that she could be with Tony. She wanted them to work this time.
And thus her crazy idea was born. Who was mose liberal about sex than a prostitute. If she could live as a prostitute for a while then she should be able to satisfy Tony, right? So she called Jenny, whos number she put in her contacts and still occasionally met with for lunch. Who would have thought one of her friends would be a hooker. Still Jenny had proven that she was a real friend by trying to talk Pepper out of her crazy idea. Pepper didn't just want to take a few johns and expand her sexual horizons. She wanted to completely live the experience of being a hooker including an extreme makeover and living off what she made hooking.
After a bit of back and forth on the topic Jenny did reveal that she knew a company that did the cosmetic procedures for a number of women. She still tried to talk Pepper out of it by reminding her of the down time to recover from the surgery and that unless she was planning to make this public she would also have to have it undone.
But Pepper was determined, so she made arrangements with Stark Industries for a sabbatical and informed Tony she was going to be away for a year. Tony of course was curious, but she fed him a cover story and before long an emergency popped up that kept him distracted. She had also arranged a few false trails for when he inevitably tried to find her, including Jenny making a few appearances in airports, hotels, and resorts disguised as her and using one of her credit cards.
Pepper had also arranged the transfer of funds to pay for her transformation procedures. She was really nervous about that as when she had been filling out the paperwork she kept picking nice safe options and even then her hand kept shaking. Eventually while she sipped a drink to calm herself she had the idea to just sign the bottom line and then asked Jenny to fill out what she thought would make Pepper the best hooker. Jenny did so and turned the paperwork in.
Which is what led to Pepper standing in front of the unassuming building nervously contemplating her future. For although Pepper Potts would enter the facility, Gina Potter the prostitute would be who came out. Pepper reminded herself of the goal of all this, her and Tony together happily and that gave her the strength to enter the building to what awaited her.
