Batman saw Mad Hatter stride towards him and even if he could look away, he wouldn't. He'd never realized before how intense Mad Hatter was, how powerful and in control he seemed, with his luxurious red hair and his eyes that seemed to borrow into Batman's soul.
"Think about it, Batman," Mad Hatter said. "Did Snow White run a company? Did Cinderella fight crime? Or did they just dance and sing and be pretty and let other people take care of them? Think about how much work Wayne Enterprises is and how stressful it is to be Batman. I can take all that away. I can take charge of all that. Don't worry, I'll make certain it's all taken care of."
Taken care of? Batman thought. Someone else take care of all of that? It sounded so nice. Yes, a princess never had to deal with stuff like that.
"Just give me all the codes and passwords and I'll take care of all of it. Oh, I know what you're thinking. You're afraid that I won't take proper care of the city. But I will. I'll show you."
Mad Hatter snapped his fingers and a few of his men came in, carrying a huge wooden crate.
"You see, I've dealt with your greatest enemies. They're not going to threaten anyone ever again.... No, don't worry. I haven't killed them. In fact, I've turned them into your friends."
The thugs opened the crate, revealing a collection of female mannequins.
"Take a good look at them, Batman."
Batman looked. Each mannequin was in some stylish or sexy pose, and each one in a really cute outfit. And they seemed very familiar.
"You got it yet, Batsy?" The Duchess asked. "Realized what happened to Mr. J?"
Then Batman realized why the mannequins looked familiar. What happened to the Joker and a whole lot of other villains....
