When Merida gave the cake to Elinor, her mother instantly accepted her apology and didn't even hesitate in accepting her lie.
As soon as Elinor took a bite out of the cake, she set the plate down.
" I'm so sorry about trying to control your fate, " she said. "From now on, you may do whatever your heart desires."
"It's ok, Mom," replied Merida. " I'm glad you understand. "
"Thank you for forgiving me," said Elinor. "It's getting late. Go to bed. Tomorrow, you may do anything you please."
As Merida went to her bedroom, she reflected on what happened during her conversation with her mom. It felt good using magic to make other people do what she wanted. It felt good having that power. She needed more. As she went to bed that night, she decided to visit the witch again tomorrow. Hopefully, she could learn some spells from her.
