Sitting up from the
floor and all but ignoring the wailing cries of her twin daughters on the couch,
Gamora stared up at the throbbing, leathery cocoon Moondragon was enveloped in.
It looked like a diseased organ hanging from tentacles that had latched up and
dug into the stone and metal of the ceiling like roots from a plant, the core
of it jerking slightly with Heather’s struggles before it all went still.
Slowly getting up from her spot Gamora moved towards the chrysalis and raised her
arm up, tracing her hand over the mottled surface. It yielding to her touch,
like leather yet much like her other form the flesh of Moondragon’s new prison
was somewhat translucent. Moving out of the light Gamora could make out her
friend’s body in a fetal position, occasionally twitching, almost like she was asleep.
Opening and closing
her mouth in shock the woman lost her composure and reverted back to her scaly,
tentacle limbed self. Her friend was wrapped in some kind of cocoon, and it was
because of her, she caused this. Panicking she closed her eyes and clasped at
the sides of her head, this had to be a nightmare, ALL of it. Still hearing her
twins cry at the couch she ignored them when another sound caught her ear,
something in her mind. The sound of laughter.
“You…”
Storming towards the
washroom and brandishing her fingers like claws she slammed the door to the
bathroom and turned to glare at the mirror. Sneering with rage and showing her
teeth, her reflection was the opposite. Smug with a haughty look in its
reptilian eyes, this other self merely admired the smoothness of its arm and
delicate fingers. Her smile was what Gamora hated the most.
“You, you did this
didn’t you!”
Taken back slight if at all, the creature in
the mirror tilted its head to the side as if to get a better angle to look out
the washroom door and see the cocoon hanging from the ceiling. “Your nosy
little friend didn’t like the answers you gave and tried looking in your head
for the RIGHT ones… And found me, she was ill prepared.”
“You did something to
her, ANSWER ME!” Slamming her fist down she used enough force to pulverise the
corner of the metal basin. That smug, arrogant smile returned on her reflection
when she crossed her arms and let her bust rise over her arms, making a show of
it when she combed her clawed fingers through the slithering tentacles of its
hair. “What can I say? It was love at first sight…” Seeing Gamora’s eyes go
wide with rage, the she creature smiled wider and continued. “Your friend was
going to learn the truth about what you are now, what WE are now, if she did
she would have contacted the local security and you would be contained in some
cage unable to sample the wonderful bodies on this ripe little hunk of…”
Roaring at the mirror
Gamora slammed her fist into the wall, causing the glass and metal to shatter
and fall into the basin, the mirror now broken and ruined. Some of the pieces
had flown off in the impact, scratching her arm and face, yet she was far to
angry to acknowledge the pain. Despite the mirror now in dozens of pieces and
her reflection was gone, she could still hear her voice in her head. “You know
I’m right…” Slowly stepping out of the bathroom she growled, furious of
herself, whatever she was, whatever she had done it was because of this… THING
using her body. She was in control… For now, but what if she slipped again?
What if the urges returned? In one night she had butchered half a dozen guards
on her way back from the bar after birthing two children, and now her friend
hung like a decoration in the middle of the living room. What would happen
tomorrow?!
Worried and anxious
Gamora sat heavily back on the couch where her twins cried on, hot tears
trickling down their faces, flailing out for their mother to respond to them.
Picking both her daughters up gently she calmed down and shushed them to be
silent, pulling up her shirt to let them drink from her swollen breasts.
Letting them nurse from her Gamora looked back at her hanging friend and back
at her twins. “What will happen to Heather? Is she being turned into what I am
now? Will I need to keep an eye on her, on you two?” Not getting an answer from
her two children Gamora sighed and leaned her head back, deep in thought she
had no idea what to do about any of this.
And it scared her.
