Regan danced through the dreams of the sleeping heroes, she couldn’t believe the strength of the telepathic defenses. She chuckled as she reached into their mind and plucked them out. Gathering the combined mental walls she gathered them together and turned them out wards. To the perspective of any passers by the school was unchanged, on the astral plane in was now surrounded by black ominous sphere. Years of training and discipline to keep their enemies out of their head, was now the prison that would keep them contained.

If her botched job on Sage had taught her anything is that she gave any off these hero types a thread of hope they’d spin it into a noose.

“Okay no chance of outside interference this time” Regan said bitterly the memory of being a vegetable still burned into her memory.

Bringing up Cerebra’s file on the heroes she combed through them looking for her opening. The transformation of Jean Grey her father had taken years off filling the “emotional void”, until he knew her well enough to begin immersing her in the illusion, of becoming the Black Queen.

The dossiers were filled with fascinating secrets, as she read them it felt less like a profile and more like a soup opera.

They were supposed to be heroes but that was just a mask they wore to hide who they really were.

Some people wear a mask to hide who they are. Others wear them to be free.” Sebastian Shaw told her on her first night at the Hellfire Club. “But some time when people wear a mask to long it can become their face”

For the social elite those words were a lifestyle, for a telepath they were an ugly truth. Looking at the files it was evident that not even the X-men were an exception. Each of them had worn the mask of someone else, assassin, criminal, villain, salve it was no wonder they had such therapy bills.

“We’ll look like I have quite a canvas to paint on.” Regan smiled, pulling the log entries of the various events heroes had strayed from the path of righteousness. In those moments they had become someone else, but had been pulled back to their old selves.

“I’m sure were all going to become great friends” Regan smiled. “Your memories just need a little jogging”
