Moving down the metal
corridors of the flying helicarrier, Nick Fury approached the door to the
onboard laboratory and opened the sealed door. From inside, the man found half
a dozen technicians and scientists in hazmat suits scribbling on clip boards
while studying the glowing orange rock found with the altered Fantastic Four
and their allies.
“So doc, what have you
got for me?” Asked Fury with his arms crossed.
“What have we got?
What have we got?! I dunno really… Thing is about as confusing as a rubix cube
is to a guy who’s colour blind.” Answered the woman in thick glasses looking
over her notes, many of them doodles. “First off the thing is giving off more
radiation than a microwave emitter but soooooo far, we’re not dead.”
Looking at the rock
with his good eye, the man slowly brought his hands to the front of his pants
to guard his crotch.
“Pff, relax! The
radiation won’t make you sterile… Actually, it might turn you into one of those
big monsters you got locked up now.” Chuckled the woman before tapping the
glass container the rock was housed in. “THIS handy material keeps that
radiation from coming out.
“What DOES the
radiation do?”
Rolling her eyes, the
scientist tapped the glass container again. “IT… MAKES… MONSTERS!” She huffed
before going over to a screen and bringing up an illustration of one of the
creatures being held on the helicarrier, along with a stick figure doodled
nearby to show scale. “How it makes the radiation, I dunno. BUT we DO know the
radiation makes people into hungry, horny armadillo kaiju like this strappin
fella!”
Although a quick
sketch, Fury found the image rather accurate. Hunched and lumbering with a wide
gait, the armor-plated monster had four muscular arms and a heavy tail that
dragged behind it. Long ribbed horns jutted behind its triangular head along
with fanged teeth that poked out of its lips. Sporting both a barrel chest and a keg of a
gut the creature looked like the epitome of power and over indulgence.
“Huh… Kinda looks like
a cross between an armadillo and a roly-poly.”
“WHAT?! I don’t see
that at all! How could you make such an unscientific conclusion?!” the scientist slammed her clipboard on a
nearby table and pointing accusingly at Fury. “It is CLEARLY a cross between a
Nidoking and a Machamp!” She exclaimed, waving her hands over the pointy horns
and fat tail. “Imagine its destructive power, being both a four-armed wrestler
and an all-consuming grazer of all manner of stuffs, it could have been
unstoppable!!!... That is until you stopped them.”
“Good thing too! They
could have gotten bigger…” Mumbled another scientist scribbling notes and scratching
an itch behind her pony tail.
“Wait, they could have
gotten bigger?!” Blinked Fury, more surprised than ever.
“Oh yeah, seems the
radiation just keeps fueling growth and changes, and the changes keep demanding
fuel to make those changes happen.” Repositioning her thick glasses, the first
scientist continued. “Heck if you didn’t stop them there and then they’d
probably be bigger than the city!”
“Maybe even bigger…”
