Life was full of changes for Rogue.
That was normal for every
superhero, but the incredibly rapid pace of the changes in her life were
a lot for anyone to deal with, even someone as strong as Rogue.
She
had gone from being single and flirting with relationships with both
Deadpool and Human Torch to being back with Gambit and then to actually
being married to Gambit in a very short amount of time.
She had no idea, however, that those changes were about to pale in comparison to what Carol Danvers had planed for her.
She
walked into the apartment that she and Gambit shared and was greeted
with the sight of Carol, standing in the front room, obviously waiting
for her.
"Hey, Carol, what's up?" She asked, a little nervous,
neither she nor Remy were particularly close to her, so it was obvious
that something big brought her here.
The grin Carol gave in response sent an involuntary shiver through Rogue's body.
"We
need to have a little chat." She began as she looked Rogue over, she
pulled out a small black stone and tossed it at Rogue, who immediately
caught it.
"What kind of chat?" She asked, although she was pretty sure that whatever was going on with the stone had brought Carol here.
"A chat about you." Carol stated.
"We
have this chat at least once a year so I guess it's that time again."
Rogue said with a sigh, forgetting the stone in her hand.
Normally
she'd go through the motions with Carol: Apologize, help her stop some
threat, apologize some more and be forgiven by Carol, but the gleam in
Carol's eye told her this encounter was gonna be different
"C'mon, Rogue, let's have a little talk." Carol said.
Rogue had no real choice in the matter.
"Alright Carol, let's talk." Rogue said, readying herself for a fight.
Rogue knew it was gonna be a long night.
She hoped she'd get the upper hand quickly
If she didn't, then she hoped Gambit would getting home very soon.
"Despite what you think, I'm not here to fight you." Carol said as she saw Rogue take a fighting stance.
"I really do want to talk to you." Rogue was unsure of this, but something in her head told her to listen.
"I want you to know just how good corruption is." Carol began.
Normally Rogue wouldn't have listened to such insanity but there was a voice in Rogue's head helping Carol convince Rogue.
It
wasn't a voice Rogue recognized (and she usually tried to remember
every voice in her head), but it was speaking the same words as Carol
and both the voice in her head and Carol were both making a convincing
argument.
"Aren't you tired of being good?" Carol asked.
Aren't you tired to repressing your desires? The voice in her head spoke.
"Evil is pleasure." They both said in unison, continuing to seduce Rogue.
"Say
it, Rogue, all you have to do is realize you have to give in and say
it." Carol said, she said it over and over, until Rogue finally realized
there was no choice but to give in, just like Carol said.
"Yes...Evil is pleasure." Rogue said much to Carol's relief.
Now
Carol was ready to see just what the change in Rogue was (and if she
didn't like it, then she was more than happy to craft Rogue into
something she liked).
Before that, Carol took a moment to gloat.
She'd finally gotten her revenge on her after all these years.
