The collective biologists looked at the virus which had all given them the cold which all of New York, most of the First world and some of the other parts of the world had just overcome. Which included the new genetic additions which had been left as the virus had augmented their DNA.
Doctor Hank "Beast" McCoy spoke as the leader of the group, "This Spider Cold... seems to be work of Miles Warren, aka the Jackel. Probably while working on the bedbug virus which gave people the Spider Plague. However, there are some major differences.
The Cold does rewrite the DNA of the person with a template of the powers of Spider-man. Super-strength, super-agility, Spider Sense and so on. It, fortunately, does this without mutation into a spider-monster. It can seem to infect any kind of lifeform capable of getting a virus, and some which can not. Somehow along with a genetic mixture of Spider-man's genetics and the genetics of the common cold, it shows signs of high energy and even minor radiation. It also seems to show some kind of mystical element, from what Wanda and Steven have shown. Which is why it seems to infect gods, demons, aliens and androids... only purely mechanical life is immune."
Peter Parker, the Original Spider-man, took a moment to digest the idea, "So everyone is going to become a Spider-man like me. Oh, this is going to be fun. So I guess the cold had no effect on me them, other then making me lousy."
"Not exactly, it seems to have more interesting effects on you. When we discovered the genetic link to you, we scanned you and your genetic code. You have mutated even further, even if you have not discovered it yet." spoke Reed "Mr. Fantastic" Richards, as the shocked Peter reacted.
"I'm going to grow six arms again or turn into a Spider-monster myself or..."
"No, Spidey. You seem to have developed in addition to your original powers, the powers during your secondary metamorphosis after dealing with the Queen, as well as duplicating all of the powers of all known Spider-based heroes. All the Spider-woman and even those of the Spider-Queen, Adrianna Soria. But they seem more intensified, more powerful. There also seems to be aspects we have yet to identify, but doesn't seem to hint at mutation beyond the human form. At the moment, it just seems like everyone has become a kind of race of Homo Arachnid, with you as some kind of Home Arachnid Superior. For lack of a better term." Spoke Beast as he continued with the explanation of events.
Captain Steve Rogers, Captain America, spoke up first, "The other Spider-heroes just kept their powers and added your original powers to them, which hints at something unusual at work. Something we have to find out. In the meantime, the villains out there are trying to figure out their powers, as is the general population. If you could help us Spider-man learn to master our new powers... we might be able to keep order in the chaos of this... situation."
Peter nodded as he realized his responsibilities in this situation.
