Etrigan had somehow transformed himself into a giant green monster and had Powergirl gripped tight in his hand. “A little help?” yelled Powergirl.
Diana floated silently behind the monster. She pulled out her lasso and with a single flick of her wrist the lasso looped around his neck. A set of sharp barbs emerged from the lasso and Diana pulled it tight. With a wet slop Etrigan’s head detatched from his body and fell to the floor. The hand gripping Powergirl went limp and she flew free. Se hovered in the air for a second, staring in horror at the body of the demonic villain.
“Diana? What did you do? You murdered him!” she said.
“He was a pest,” said Diana, looking Powergirl up and down. “I’m tired of capturing these creeps only for them to escape six weeks later.”
“But, but we can’t just kill them!”
Diana walked up to Powergirl, twirling her lasso. “Let me explain it to you Powergirl. You’ll soon understand.”
As she span her lasso it slowly faded from the bright yellow, back to its natural latex black texture. The end of the whip split into nine prongs and Diana cracked it at Powergirl’s head. The whip attached to the heroine, wrapping itself around her head and gripping tight.
“Diana, what are you doing?” said Powergirl, pulling at the cords embracing her head. She looked up at Diana. Where she had been stood was a wicked looking figure dressed in a wicked looking green dress that barely covered her body.
“I’m taking what’s mine,” sneered Diana. The ends of two of the prongs of her whip crept into Powergirl’s ears. She grimaced in pain as the magic cord penetrated her head, radiating its corrupting power as it went. Powergirl sank to the floor as the tips of the whip detached and wriggled further into her head. She knelt on the ground, twitching as the tendrils did their work. Diana put her hand on Powergirl’s head and whispered to her.
“Let it happen Karen. Let it take you, let it change you.”
“Change me,” whispered Powergirl. “Take me.”
Powergirl looked up and a huge blast of power emanated from her eyes. The sky lit up red as the energy flowed out of her. The energy grew brighter and Diana was forced to look away. Finally it faded and Diana looked back. The woman standing where Powergirl had been was exquisite. All the colour had drained from her skin and her hair was bleached white. She stared at Diana with the same blank white stare. Her soul was truly lost.
“I feel empty, hungry. What happened to me? What did you do?” she asked, more puzzled than angry.
“I fed my baby,” said Diana, stroking her whip. “I fed it your soul.”
“I feel it. I feel the darkness that has replaced it. It’s consumed the goodness inside me. I think I like it!”

Diana cracked her whip once more, wrapping the tendrils around Powergirl again. They wrapped around her body and wormed their way into her costume. Each place they touched turned pitch black, reforming her outfit into something wicked. Finally their work done the whip fell from the new villainess.

Karen looked down at her new costume and smiled.
“I like it,” she hissed. She leant down and picked up the end of Diana’s whip. Wrapping it round her wrist she pulled the corrupted Amazon to her then put her arm round her waist and pulled her in for a deep kiss. “I like you too.”
