Mike was an army veteran, after 12 years in the infantry (five knee surgeries, four shoulder surgeries, being blown up three time, and two foot surgeries) it was decided that it was time for him to retire. Now he walked up to his store front. After retiring a childhood friend approached him, it was a turnkey deal; take over comic book store from the friend’s dead father for a cut rate deal. That was where he was now about to open up his store.
“Hay Mike,” the purple haired teenage girl said.
“Vicki,” Mike greeted the regular, “You didn’t come by last night to get your subscriptions.”
“I was with Steve,” Vicki smirked, “We… we went to the movies.”
“Right,” Mike unlocked the door and opened it, “The kind you watch in your bedroom right?”
Vicki didn’t respond but blushed and smiled.
“Come on,” Mike lead the way into the store, “Give me a minute.”
Mike went back and entered the key to the time delay safe and started the coffee machine. He made his way back to the counter holding a box of card packs. Along the way he grabbed the handful of comics for the teenager.
“Here,” Vicki pulled out a debit gift card.
“Happy birthday?” Mike looked at the card.
“What I got for getting all A’s,” Vicki smirked, the pointed at the box, “What’s that?”
“Another collectable card game,” Mike opened the box and pulled out a starter pack, “This one is put out by the comic book company. One in one hundred is alternate world version, one in one hundred thousand are holographic cards and there are only one Alter-Id card for each character.”Mike leaned in, smirked and started to read in a theatrical tone.
“Only those that truly know the secret of the Alter-Id cards can unlock their true power,” Mike chuckle, “They don’t settle for over the top, they have to go way over the top!”
“No, they don’t,” Vicki smiled, “I’ll take two starter packs and three boosters. Steve will want to try it.”
“Sold to the lady in the leather coat,” Mike rung it up, “Hay did you hear about the…”
