The Yes Man's Ring

by C.King - 5/8/2018 4:33 PM

Figure I post this to see what people think and what ideas they have. Posted originally on BEA, did more work on it on CHYOA, then posted it here. Was curious on what people would like to see here? Thanks.

A tone I would think that would work great is "You are going to be happy and make grand kids and great grand kids for me if I have to shove it down your throats young men!"   If the ring has an addictive quality, then he could be going around wanting to become everyone's match maker.

How would he fix the family?

Get Bruce and Selina married, get Dick and Barbara married, force Jason to return to the fold and stop killing, get Tim and Steph or Cassie together for the long hall, get Damian to agree to be nice and not be a shit towards everyone...

Get access to Arkham and convince Rogues to abandon their life of crime, or just their lives....

The Bridesmaid ideas was to convert two villains to Bruce's side as well as two heroines for help, as an unofficial harem. Which also means more grandkids (The ring can alter people physically as well as mentally as well as their souls. Anything living or pseudo-living. Clothes... who knows). also things like making the Joker take a long walk off a short pier... over a meat grinder. Things like that. Assuming he doesn't call Joker or others a lady, and their bodies/minds agree by becoming women. Thought about doing the same with Aunt May as Alfred but might be too much.

RE: The Yes Man's Ring

Yeah then again, in most versions, Aunt May gets the ring... Everyone loves Peter, he is happily married to Mary Jane who is do with tripplets, he has no worries about money since he is the editor for digital content at the daily bugle and is the heir apparant for when his friend and mentor, that nice man Mr. J.J.  Jameson retires to spend more time with his children.

Right... hang on a second while I go puke....
Ok, I'm back.  So Aunt May isn't that hard, Alfred wouldn't be that hard either which is the reason for the suggestion that the ring have an addictive quality to it's power.
Other out growths as the power twists Alfred's mind, Kate (Batwoman) Kane has a heart to heart with Alfred and she realizes she was always just bi-sexual and the reason she pretended to be a lesbian is because she knew it would be wrong for her to have kids with the one man she wanted, her cousin Bruce.  But Alfred helps her realize her place is as Selina's lady in waiting, so she can get Bruce "ready" for Selina and keep Selina "entertained", in addition to providing "services" to help them "release stress" while they are apart.  Harley and Pam could be convinced to be the maid and gardener at Alfred's personal service, one California King bed personal service.  Richard, Barbara, Raven and Kori could be called in for a chat and Alfred helps them realize that it is best if they all share each other sice legally only Dick and Barbara can be married (Raven is an extradimensional reffugee and Kori is not human after all).  It would only be fair if Barbara gets the Wife slot and invites the other two into their bed as her ladies in waiting.

I was thinking Harley, Pam, Diane, and Zatanna with Selina and Bruce. Making all five fertile. For now. I might see Kate, but I could also see Alfred convincing some of the people Bruce knows to allow Lesbians to get each other pregnant and hook her up with Maggie Sawyer... And Alex Danvers if she exists here. Dick, Babs, Raven and Kori could work. Heck, if Alfred wrote the politicians a letter, he could get polyamary legal. One idea for the Dobby piece on CHYOA is the idea if the ring-bearer sign a form letter, everyone agree with the contents of the letter. Just like on the Once Upon a Time branch, I have Regina turning Snow White so she's physically different. I kept the ring's rules open to be adapted. Also would Alfred play match maker for other heroes. As, Tim plus Spolier plus Black Bat Plus Wonder Girl?

Never really watched Once Upon a Time.  Tim, Steph, Cassandra and Cassie?  Ah, toss in Rose Wilson and Kara Zor-El so he be rivaling Bruce for Daddy points.

Who should we hang on Jason to get him to "Straighten out and be respectable?"

Well, if Alfred is going for a Amazon for all the boys except Damian... Bruce/Diana, Dick/Donna, Jason/Artemis, Tim/CassieS. Kryptonians are tricker if you only has Power Girl, Super Girl, and Divine. Which fit the boys save Damian. Unless you get one for Bruce, turn Clark into a girl, or count Kori/Starfire as 'almost' a Kryptonian. In which cause, it could be Bruce/Karen, Dick/Kori, Jason/Divine (or similar), and Tim/Kara. As I said, Anything said/written/communicated by a ring wearer is agreed with by others physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, as long as they are living or pseudo-living like Robots or Vampires.

RE: The Yes Man's Ring

Well, I don't know about a Kryptonian for everyone.  On the other hand, In the All-Star Superman they brought back Lex Luthor's Neice Nasthalthia Luthor, AKA Nasty Luthor, and they re-introduced the Kyroptonite enhancement treatment.  So if Alfred were to "get his hands on" that, he could have any one become a junior powered Kryptonian.

There are a few other wild cards I feel need to be brought up, Huntress... would this version of Huntress be a Wayne or a mob princess?  If she is a Wayne what Alfred do with her?

RE: The Yes Man's Ring

by C.King - 5/9/2018 12:14 PM

So no Kryptonian for everyone far. Who has been Huntress' Love Interests? Other then The Question on TV? Technically, if Alfred told someone they had Kryptonian powers, they would get them. Due to their bodies gaining them to agree. But he might want to sit and wait till he was sure before handing out powers like Candy.

I just had a stroke of madness!  Hear me out.

Barbara becomes Dick's supergirl!  Introduce Barbara in her wheel chair mopping around, and Alfred decides that that just won't do.  On a slow day, say wensday, he goes to Metropolis and goes right up to the office of Lex Luthor and kindly asks for all the information on his Artificial Kyrptonian Upgrade serum project.  While he looks it over he makes some edits like.
"When introduced into humans who have suffered never damage the nerve tissue is restored,"  and "After multiple treatments it is possible to make a human woman a kryptonian woman but they would need at least five consecutive weekly treatments."
Luthor then orders everything packed into Alfred's truck since clearly he is a better Stewart of this that Luthor was.  Alfred drives back to Gotham and has Dick bring Barbara and her family over to give her the news that this drug will bring her back to full health over the course of six weeks of treatment, it was donated by a rival of Mister Wanye's to pay off a debt.  He explains that there could be some side effects but nothing that will hurt Barbara.  After two months and just in time for the wedding of the century Barbara is Dick's Part Kryptonian fiance!

Works, you can even have it work on other ways. Remember Inanimate can't be altered, but living things can. Like their knowledge. Mentioning to Bruce that he has all of Lex's Kryptonian research in his head, and has adapted will cause Bruce to remember that information perfectly. Even if he didn't before. He could mention to Barbara that her genetics is very receptive to the serum, causing it to work faster. Or even in parts with legs being restored followed by Kryptonian powers. Or Alfred could visit Alexander Luthor, only to speak and greet Alexis Luthor. The Redhead supermodel genius who is one of Superman's lover/wives/mistresses. Then Lex would mentally/physically change from male to female. Not sure if it effects history, but given magic and other sources... who knows.

RE: The Yes Man's Ring

by gothamalleyviper - 5/9/2018 3:05 PM

No, it has to be special.  And honestly the worst thing I can think of is forcing Lex to be a good guy because if he so much as Jay Walks or tips badly every scummy thing he ever did will get plastered on every information device everywhere on the planet and beyond and everyone will turn on him.

Alfred can be smug about it since he managed to end Luthor's criminal carrier and is making him pay without a single act of violence.  As far as Superman goes, I don't think Alfred really cares about him one way or the other.  I am sure he is polite to him as a professional standard, but I have seen plenty of panels where Alfred would shot him in the face without a second thought.
If anything, he would make Alexis Luthor hot and bothered about merging Lexcorp with Wayne Enterprises the old fashion way.  But for right now Selina will be Bruce's lawfully wedded bride.
As for what other characters could be imported... I wasn't really thinking of this as a M/DC/O setting... But in cross overs from the past, Time had a thing when he met the X-men for Jubilee.

I've always believed that a post around 1000-1500 words is a good chapter.
colleem - 7/15/2018 3:40 PM
Ups Lol
extreme1 - 7/15/2018 3:20 PM
I thought you were talking about the size of of the words used in the chapter. Anything less than 10 letters in a word and it's to be ignored!
colleem - 7/15/2018 3:20 PM
Ups Lol
Solarsearcher - 7/15/2018 2:33 PM
Oh, you thought I was talking about “chapter” size...
colleem - 7/15/2018 1:28 PM
creating Atmosphere. Then it is good written i say :)
colleem - 7/15/2018 1:27 PM
i am with Solar :) Size matters IF it is used good :) Chapters should have a certain depth to the Story and should create an Atmosphere that is more than 200 Words long :) But it is hard to say a chapter is long or short! it has to be well written and
Solarsearcher - 7/15/2018 12:13 PM
Contrary to what you may or may not have been told... size matters...
zahnskye - 7/15/2018 4:09 AM
If I write something super long it is because I'm trying to write more than one scene and sometimes I cannot fit everything I want into a short post.
zahnskye - 7/15/2018 4:08 AM
Also, short isn't bad. If you think of this site as a cyoa site (which it is) then each chapter should be written as one scene in a novel. Scenes are usually short and should serve a point.
