Fed up with his wife's unfaithfulness, Hephaestus decided to take matters into his own hands. With the help of Eros, the primordial deity of desire, who took pity on the ugly son of Zeus and Hera, the God of blacksmiths forged a powerful jewel that he intended to offer to his wife. Once she would have started wearing it, the powerful artifact would make sure the Goddess only had eyes for her husband.

Unfortunately for Hephaestus, Adonis, one of Aphrodite's many consorts, had assisted discretely to his craftsmanship. Hoping to please the Goddess, Adonis immediately reported her husband's intentions to Aphrodite. After thanking her lover appropriately, the Goddess of love confronted the blacksmith of the Gods and forced him to get rid of his present.

Forged with the combined might of Eros and Hephaestus, the jewel was however too powerful to be safely disposed of. To this day, it had been sealed away in a pocket dimension. As time flew by, it's power increased to the point that the jewel had acquired a conscience and was able to find its way out of its prison.

Nowadays, the jewel takes the form of a button that one clips on his clothes, displaying a round white face with a red circle and a slash over the image of a broken Valentine's Day heart. It is known to those who are aware of its existence as the Anti-Broken Hearts Pin.
