Managing to fly back
to the fortress of solitude at supersonic speed, the trio of kryptonian heroes
flew past the battered gates of the fortress and straight to the extra rooms
where their spare cloths were kept just in case of an emergency. Stepping out
of his bedroom, Superman tugged at the collar of his costume, rolling his
shoulder like his suit seemed snug. Once he had gotten to the main hall he
found Power Girl and Super Girl waiting for him. Kara fanned at her cleavage
window, her costume looking a bit more skin tight on her than usual. Karen
herself tugged on her red skirt, blushing that it seemed shorter than she
remembered.
“Well… I think its
safe to say we lost Faora.” Pouted Super Girl, her cheeks looking flushed.
“Yeah.” Shifting her stance,
a bit. Power Girl noticed one of the nearby monitors blinking. “Hey, there’s a
message coming in.”
Walking over to the
monitor, Superman clicked the blinking button and was met with the founding
members of the Justice League. “FINALLY! We’ve been trying to get a hold of you
all day!” Called out the Flash, exasperated and throwing his arms up in the
air. Wonder Woman moved up to be center of the screen and spoke up. “Yes
Superman, this was quite urgent.”
“What do you mean
Diana? Does this have to do with Faora’s escape from the phantom zone?”
Looking back surprised,
Diana shook her head. “If she HAS escaped than that is another crisis we have
to deal with. No, turn to the news channels, they’ve been covering the event
all day.”
Taken back, Superman
activated another monitor nearby and set it to an American news broadcast. What
he and the two women behind him saw made them blink stunned. There gnawing on
the remains of a meat truck was what could best be described as a dragon! Well
over 30 feet long and nearly the size of the truck it was tearing open with its
teeth, the creature was covered in smooth yellow fur and sported black claws
that looked sharp enough to easily cut into metal, because they were. Long
gnarled horns jutted out from its lupine skull nearly the length of its
forearm, along with thick spines that lined down its back all the way to its
tail, ending in a blunt mass like a club. Flapping its leathery bat-like wings
it turned the truck over and started gorging on packaged meats, roaring at the
driver that had managed to pry himself free of his seat and jump out of the
truck.
“IT HAS BEEN
PANDAMONIUM HERE IN METROPOLOS WHEN FOUR MASSIVE… MONSTERS FLEW DOWN FROM THE
SKY AND STARTED RAMPAGING THROUGH ITS STREETS! SO FAR THERE HAVE BEEN NO
CASULTIES BUT THE PROPERTY DAMAGE HAS BEEN RECORDED IN THE MILLIONS.”
Flicking through
channels, each news station showed their own recordings of the strange dragon
creatures stomping around the city. One channel showed a pitch-black creature
reaching into the ruined front of a deli, feeling around and pulling out claws
full of meats. Another showed a second blonde furred dragon tackling down a police
horse, its rider tumbling back to his feet to fire on the creature, only for
his bullets to bounce off it.
Looking back to Diana
on the screen she continued where the news stations left off.
“They rampaged
unchecked for hours until they flew off into the air again just at sundown, we
lost track of them after that. Where WERE you?!”
Finding himself
looking down Diana’s bust, Clark had to recollect himself before answering. “I
was in the middle of giving Faora-Ui a parole hearing when she brandished a
shard of kryptonite, one I’ve never seen before. It must have caused Power
girl, Super Girl and myself to pass out with amnesia.” Looking behind him to
gesture to the two women behind him he continued. “More than likely she was hit
with the same thing, I’ll try to find her, right after we deal with this…
Monster crisis.”
Nodding, Wonder Woman
wished the three heroes good luck and turned her side of the transmission off.
Shifting in his tight shoes, Superman tried to hide the bulge that had swelled
from between his legs.
