It had taken Jervis most of the night and half the day but at last now he had created one of his earliest bits of tech to handle inquisitive and suspicious fools around him.  He'd had to borrow a soldering iron from Reed's lab as he tinkered with the components and Susan had helpfully provided him with a laptop so that he could take care of the base programming of the device. He called it a hypnotic projector as it caused anyone that looked into the screen to put in a state of trance in a matter of seconds. Susan arrived with his lunch, "Thank you for bringing that to me Susan, I was feeling a bit hungry. I would have gotten something myself"

 

Susan smiled, "Just like you got something for breakfast?"

 

Jervis chuckled weakly as he had in fact skipped that meal while working on his device. Susan placed the plate down in front of him with bore a turkey sandwich, cut in half with a glass of orange juice. "It's quite alright, in fact you might say I'm used to it, Reed often does the same thing. I can hardly fault you for being like my husband. If its not too complicated, what is it that you're building?"

 

"I just completed it. Here let me show you." Jervis said and pointed the device into her face, flipping the switch on, the series of lights and shapes flashing in her eyes. Jervis made sure not to look into the device himself, but he could not help but get excited as he saw the curiosity in her face fade away in seconds to be replaced with a blank stare.

 

"Hello Alice." Jervis said.

 

"Hello Jervis." Susan said back.

 

Jervis reached out to touch her face, and smiled as his touch didn't distract her from the deep hypnosis that he had placed her under. Susan did not even register the touch but continued to stare at the projector. "Very good Alice, continue to stay peaceful, the only thing that matters is that you remain this peaceful, this deep until I allow you to come back up, to wake up from this dream."

 

"It is a nice dream." Susan murmured.

 

Jervis looked in to her eyes but she wasn't looking at him, "You will tell me everything I want to know. What is your name?"

 

"My name is Susan Storm-Richards." Susan said.

 

Jervis tsked, "That was your name, but when you're deep and peaceful like this I gave you a new name, your real name."

 

"My name is Alice." Alice said.

 

Jervis nodded, "That's right, and you know everything that Susan knows but Susan only knows what I allow. Isn't that right Alice?"

 

Alice's brow furrowed, "If you say so."

Jervis smiled, "That's a good girl Alice, and lets have Susan forget all about that me trying to brainwash her and her needing to tell anyone else what I'm doing. Susan is still to strong for you and me to suppress entirely so we'll continue to work around her Alice in building our Wonderland. After all it can't just be Alice and the Mad Hatter, we need to have all of our friends."
