Hours later, Jason Lance still sat at his desk which was now littered with everything his men had been able to gather on both Amazing Woman and Brett Jenkins. A police captain on his payroll had given Jason access to Detective Doris Major’s police reports and had copied other files on her ongoing investigation of Amazing Woman. He even gave Jason the single black strand of hair of Amazing Woman’s hair.

The police had been unable to identify the hair’s DNA by running it through their usual databases, but the police DNA database was very limited and wasn’t as vast as the CIA’s, fortunately Jason had a friends in very high places.

Jason’s phone rang, it was his mole within the CIA.

“Hello Edward, tell me you have good news,” said Jason answering the phone.

“I do,” he answered. “From what you told me about that Amazing Woman of yours, I figured she must have some kind of military background. A few years ago Homeland Security decided to keep closer eye on the people serving in the armed forces, tighter background cheeks and it became mandatory that every soldier gave a sample of their DNA to be kept on file. Your DNA belongs to one Martha Knight. And that’s where it gets interesting. According to every file I have on my desk. She’s dead.”

“You’re kidding me,” said Jason. “What about siblings? Other family members? I know DNA is..”

“Yeah, yeah, I know, ” said Edwards. “Her parents died in a car crash shortly after Martha first went to boot camp at age 18. Her only sibling is a younger sister, now age 18… Jasmine Knight. She’s female news reporter.”

“I find it unlikely that a 18yearold college girl is what’s been giving the criminal underworld so much grief lately,” said Jason.

“There is another possibility, Martha Knight’s death might have been faked,” said Edward. “I’m sure you remember the legendary hero of World War II… Captain Justice. Awhile back there were rumors within the CIA that during the war, Captain Justice was actually part of a secret project run by the Secret Watch Operations Resource Department, a three billion dollar military unit supposedly filled with the best of the best. Although you’d be hard pressed to find anyone in Washington to admit anything about it. SWORD is still around today and totally off the grid consisting of various branches of military units, a bit of mixture of all the best of the best of the armed forces. There were a lot reported casualties in wars that are actually falsified as a cover story, typical of SWORD recruitment. After 9/11 rumors were floating around that SWORD were looking for perfect recruits, ones that they could mold into heroes like Captain Justice, but instead of fighting on battle field, they would serve on the home-front in case something major was brewing.”

“Are you trying to tell that Amazing Woman may be superhero created by the government,” asked Jason. “That sounds absurd.”

“True, but yet they did create Captain Justice,” said Edwards.
