Gwen had to go back to the lab. If anyone could help her it would be one of the scientists there. At least they would have records of what they had been doing. First she had to get dressed. She pulled open her closet and rifled through her clothes for something that would fit her new pneumatic body. As she flicked through cardigans and blouses she came across something she hadn't seen in years. A little black dress hung, almost forgotten, at one end of the rack. She'd bought it for a date with Peter Parker that he'd never turned up to but the dress hadn't fit her quite right. It had always hung off her in the wrong way. Gwen reached out and touched the black silk. As her hand touched it she let out a soft moan. The feel of the silk was incredible against her skin. Unable to stop herself she pulled the dress of its hanger and wriggled her way into it. She twirled and looked at herself in the mirror. She looked amazing. The rich black of the dress matched her white skin perfectly and her new body filled it out as if it was designed for her. A mountain of cleavage was exposed and the dress barely came down to her thighs but Gwen didn't care, she looked amazing. She pulled out her best knee-high black leather boots, six inch heels and straps all over. They went perfectly with the dress. Finally she grabbed a pair of mirrored sunglasses to hide her strange eyes and made for the door.

All it took was the promise of a date for the security guard to let her into the lab. She smiled at him as he waved her through, knowing full well she'd never turn up. Gwen didn't feel bad. She didn't care about the feelings of some puny man. Who was he to her? Nothing, an object to be used, chewed up and spat out.

Gwen stopped. Where were these thoughts coming from? She shook her head as if she was shaking out the nasty thoughts and returned to her mission. The lab was empty.

"Hello?" she shouted. "Is anyone here?"

No reply came.

"Damn it. Stupid fucking scientists. Can't even show up to work," she snarled.

Along one wall was the row of glass tanks that contained the spiders. Gwen sauntered over to the tanks and peered in. Each tank was linked to the others with a small glass tunnel, forming a large habitat for the spiders to roam. The previous day there had been hundreds of spiders. Today all but one of the tanks were empty. In the center tank sat a single, huge black spider, the one that had bitten her. She peered in at it and it looked up at her, almost as if it recognised her.

"Hello there," Gwen whispered. "You're the one who bit me, the one who transformed me, who gave me this gift." How long had she been thinking of it as a gift?

Gwen looked around for a second and then unclipped the lid to the tank...
