Mad laughter echoed out into the night air, a storm circling over the rooftops overviewing New York City where Demona triumphed in her latest scheme against human kind. Somehow she had gotten hold of the eye of Odin, the missing eye of the Norse god. In the hands of a nobody it would make them more than just dangerous, they could be a living bomb! But in the clutches of the immortal Demona she had more power than she ever imagined. “These humans have no idea what doom awaits them, with THIS I can see my plans finally reach fruition!”

“Not if we can help it!”

Smiling back at her former clan the Gargoyles circled her on the rooftop, at the corner of her eye Demona could see Detective Maza with her pistol in hand hiding behind an air vent. “We’ve got you surrounded Demona, hand over the Eye before you do something you’ll regret.”

“Regret?! I’ll show you what I regret Goliath!” Sneering at the dark blue leader of the gargoyle clan Demona raised the golden jewel above her head and her eyes briefly glowed white just when she called down a bolt of lightning that stunned the gargoyles and detective instantly. “With this my destiny is once again in my hands.” Swirling her claws over the Eye of Odin Demona began muttering an incantation, green swirling mist formed around her hands that enveloped her body, when she was finished a humanoid form pulled away from her body before evaporating into mist. “Ah… Free of that retched human form, thank you Puck for letting me exist in the day, but I grew tired of looking like THEM, now I will NEVER turn to stone!”

Watching the others slowly stir back awake and getting up from the ground Demona looked back to the detective and grinned, with a flourish of her hand Elisa gasped, forced up in the air and levitating off the ground and slowly being pulled towards the mad gargoyle woman. “Let us see what I can do with this newfound power.” Letting her eyes glow once again Demona began another incantation, her spells empowered by the eye in her hand. Clutching at her sides Elisa moaned and doubled over, her feet bursting out of her shoes into splayed out claws while her hands brandished clawed fingers. A tail had burst out the back of her jeans and her red jacket tore open from behind to give room to her massive black wings. Dropped unceremoniously to the floor Elisa caught her breath and felt over her body and face, surprised to feel pointed ears and stubby horns above her forehead.

Demona laughed maniacally, she could do anything, and spells too powerful or complicated for any mere mortal were but a gesture to her now. Looking over the edge of the roof overlooking the city she had one spell in mind. “With this I can finally be rid of the humans once and for all, all of them gone in an instant like a bad memory!” With her hand up in the air she conjured ethereal magic around herself, light and energy poured out from the jewelled eye in her claw, all it would take were a few more seconds and all of mankind would blink out of existence.

And then she felt something huge and heavy collide into her, Goliath and Hudson had regained their strength and body tackled Demona to the ground, sending the gargoyle woman reeling and gasping in shock when her grip on the eye loosened, the thing bouncing off until it landed between Broadway’s feet. “NO! The eye!” Snarling in rage she fought with the two, her eyes never leaving sight of the gem as it was picked up by the overweight gargoyle. A look of panic written on his face when she finally got free and stalked towards him.

“Destroy the eye Broadway, it’s the only way!” Called out Goliath, the others finally getting back up but were too far away to help him now that Demona was mere feet from him, her face livid and her eyes glowing red. “Give me the Eye Broadway or so help me I will destroy you in the worst way possible!!!”

Panicking… He swallowed the eye.

Everyone froze when a small light shun out from Broadway’s stomach before that light became a blinding explosion that rocked the roof of the high rise they all stood over.

“Oooooh did YOU have a bad night.” Smiled the floating form of Puck hovering upside down when the Gargoyles returned to the castle on top of Xanatos’s high rise. Demona had been bound in twisted metal around her wrists, fighting Brooklyn and Lexington for freedom while they dragged her towards the tower for safe keeping. Goliath and Elisa stepped over to a couch while Hudson and Bronx collapsed in front of the television, the old gargoyle pulling back the recliner to sit better. Angela helped Broadway as he leaned against the wall, rubbing his sore stomach and coughing up mist. “Poor thing, you look like you swallowed a grenade.”

“Felt like it too…”

Floating over to Goliath and Elisa Puck smirked when he caught the detective’s current state, the woman folding her wings around herself like a blanket while wringing her new tail, clearly upset. “Oh my look at you, she really gave you the whammy didn’t she?” Seeing the woman hiss out a sneer Goliath shared in her displeasure and the fairy flew back giggling all the while. “Oh don’t worry I can fix that up in a synch, or would you rather have some time to be all stony with your big squeeze there?”

“Puck, you will fix this.”

“Of course I will… When I feel like it.” Snapping his fingers the fairy trickster disappeared, leaving the two to huff in annoyance.

Rubbing Broadway’s stomach Angela smiled at the sore gargoyle, giving him a peck on the forehead and helping him back up to his feet. When Lexington and Brooklyn returned the two dusted off their hands and gestured that Demona was imprisoned for the day. “It’s a shame mother can’t calm down about humanity, but at least we kept her from doing something horrible.”

“Yeah… ‘Uuuurph’ Ugh my aching stomach.”

Seeing that it was close to sunrise the clan moved out to take their perches overlooking the castle, striking their poses for when they’d be turned to solid rock. Standing close to Goliath Elisa felt hesitant and anxious seeing the orange glow of the sun just ready to break into dawn. “It is alright Elisa, it doesn’t hurt, not one bit.”

Nodding back she closed her eyes and prepared herself for what would come next.
