Bruce had the perfect idea. He was going to dig out Professor Ivo's research and study it thoroughly. Professor Ivo was the creator of Amazo, a powerful android that had the ability to copy the powers of any meta-human or the skills of any non-meta-human it encountered. It only needed to analyze a subject by looking at him/her to duplicate his/her powers and skills. The first Amazo had almost managed once to wipe out the original members of the Justice League by replicating the powers of Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Martian Manhunter and Aquaman and the skills of Green Arrow and Batman.

If Batman could give himself this kind of ability, he would be able to absorb the powers of all his Justice League colleagues in only one single meeting, including Superman's strength, Wonder Woman's immortality, Flash's speed and Martian Manhunter's telepathy. He would also be able to copy the powers of his rogues' gallery and of magic users like Zatanna and Circe.

It took him less than a week to track down Ivo and get his hands on Amazo's blueprints. But it took him nearly two months to decipher Ivo's work and come up with an invention of his own. He managed to develop nanites that once inside his bloodstream would assimilate to his body and give him the ability to copy anyone's powers. The drawback was that, contrary to Amazo that could analyze an opponent by looking at him, Bruce needed to come in direct skin to skin contact with the people whose powers he wanted to duplicate. The nanites needed to be able to sample a subject's DNA and energy signature to replicate his/her powers and bestow him with new abilities.

He injected himself with a saline solution containing the nanites and start working. All that was left to do was to test them out.
