Adora stood at the edge of the Whispering Woods looking beyond the failing barrier at the city beyond.  It looked like no city on Etheria or Eternia.  All around them strange vehicles with flashing lights were coming and armored figures got out pointing odd weapons at them from beyond the shield.

“I am three minutes out!” Hal reported over the JLA comlink in his hear, “I can see it.  I think I see the entrance, yeah there is a heavy police presence right there.”

Hal Jordan in his guise as the Green Lantern flew into what had been the city center of Ivy Town Connecticut.  Or rather to the edge of the weird forest that had replaced the city center.  As he got to the edge he looked at the lines formed of City and State Police on the city side and the midgets with the cross bows in the forest.  Hal put up a translucent green brick wall construct in between them.

“Ok People, let’s all calm down…” Hal announced, “Officers I think we can holster our arms while we figure out what’s going on, I think you folks can put your weapons down for a minute and talk.”

A leggy blonde stepped forward and gestured for the midgets to put their weapons down.  The police for the most part put their pistols in their holsters and their shotguns and carbines on the hoods of their cars.

“Ok, Trooper, you can put the sniper rifle down for a minute, your spotter can keep watching,” Hal called, “And you in the tree, the shirtless archer, you can put the bow down.  Let’s try to resolve this peacefully.”

“Bow,” the blonde called to man in the tree behind her.

The marksman in the State Police gear put the rifle down and picked up her own spotting scope.  The archer put his bow away.  Hal kept from groaning at the name of the archer.  “Bow?” Why do archers always choose such punny code names… Hal questioned himself internally.

“I am Adora, a leader of the Great Rebellion,” the Blonde spoke up.

“Rebellion?” a police sergeant asked.

“You speak English?” Hal smiled, “Cool, that means I don’t have translate everything.  Can you explain what is going on here?  Peacefully?”

“Long ago the planet of Etheria was invaded and conquered by a force known as the Horde…” Adora started.

“Clif notes version?” one officer asked.

“You folks will get your chance…” Hal said turning to the police, “Please continue miss.”

“We have been fighting a rebellion to free our planet, and have slowly been making progress,” Adora smiled for a second, “But since the Horde General couldn’t defeat us, the Horde deployed a weapon to kill all life on the planet so they could start anew without any natives to resent their rule.”

“Ok…” Hal said, “And soo…”

“My father’s chief scientist and the greatest magic users opened portals to allow whole refuges to be brought to Eternia,” Adora informed everyone.

“Wait…” A cop asked, “Your father isn’t from, Etheria was it?”

“No, I was born on the world of Eternia and kidnapped as a baby,” Adora said clearly not sure how much she should say.

“Yeah,” one of the midgets shouted, “Adora joined us to set things right on our world and is a leader in our rebellion!”

“OK,” Hal waved his hands for everyone to calm down, “Tower did you get that?”

“Yes,” Mister Terific responded over the JLA comlink, “It makes sense with the nanites detected in the air above the dislocated centers.  I am working on a theory, but a short answer is that the Boom tubes Darksied opened might have affected the translocation.”

“Great,” Hal said, “Solutions?”

“I am contacting Palmer,” Mister Terrific said, “You have Atom in bound.”

“Which one?” Hal asked.

“GIGANTA!” one of the police officers shouted as a three story tall red head appeared from behind a bank building.

“Whoa! Calm down everyone!” Ryan Choi in the Atom outfit shouted from Giganta’s palm, “She’s with me, everything is cool!”

The Rebels put their weapons down after the police did likewise.  Giganta started shrinking as she approached the police lines and put Atom on the ground.  The pair walked throw the lines over to Hal who had floated down and stood where he had had the construct of a wall.

“Atom, Giganta,” Hal smiled tensely.

“Sorry, I figured this would be quicker than him trying to get a taxi,” Giganta laughed with a nervous tension.

Adora and the other rebels were sizing Giganta up and down.

“What?” Ryan muttered as he stopped next to Hal, “Datenight.”

“Dating Catwoman?” Hal snipped under his breath.

Ryan coughed a few times and muttered “Star Sapphire” in his coughing.

“Sorry, Forgive me,” Ryan smiled at everyone, “I was checking to make sure the lady was abinding by her parole, What have you got Green Latern?  Are these anything you have encountered before?  Most of them seem like they are not Earth Species.”

“Earth?” Adora chirped up, “My Mother is from Earth, is this home to Nasa?”

“NASA or Nassau?” Hal asked.

Adora merely furled her brow in confusion.

“Quick version of your mom’s story?” Hal asked, “It would help establish jurisdiction…”

“My mother is Queen Marlena,” Adora started, “She was born on Earth, was sent on the Rainbow Mission by Nasa and was stranded on Eternia… she was rescued by King Randor and they married.  Shortly after the Horde tried to invade Eternia and I was stolen before they retreated.”

“That make sense to anyone?” Hal turned to Ryan and Giganta.

“Ah, Green Lantern sir?” a cop spoke up.

“Yes Officer…. White?” Hal turned to the cop.

“Here,” the cop handed over a Wayne Tech smart phone.

“Oh look a wiki page,” Giganta said passing the phone to Hal and Ryan.

“Let’s see,” Hal started reading, “Marlena Glenn, Lieutenant USN, NASA Astronaut… Part of the Rainbow Explorer Jovian Moon Missions as part of the Rainbow Sky New Frontiers program…”

“Oh Hay,” Ryan said, “NASA was trying to use Earth Built reverse engineered FTL drives to further our space program… Turned out to be too unstable without Kryptonian or Thanagerian navigation computers… what?”

Giganta, Hal and the cops all staired at Ryan.

“NASA had a lab at the college,” Ryan said, “Who’s ass do you think I had to kiss to get the scholarships to pay for school?”

“Let’s see if there is a picture…” Giganta reached over and scrolled the web page, “Whoa, like totally eighties!”

“Seriously?” Hal asked.

Shaking his head, he held the NASA file photo up next to Adora’s head.

“She looks like a blonde version of Lieutenant Glenn,” Ryan shrugged.

“Ok,” Hal scrolled down looking for more info, “Says she her mission was in thirty years ago.”

“I am twenty-one,” Adora admitted.

“Still,” Giganta said, “five years to land on a new world, marry a king and have kids?”

“Imagine if she said she was thirty,” Officer White said.

There were murmurs form the superheroes and confusion from the rebels.

“Hal come in,” Mr. Terrific called over the commlink.

“Go ahead,” Hal responded passing back the phone.

“Weather sensors form sournding buildings are detecting high pollen counts.  It must be from the alien biome.  Isolate it immediately!”

“Ok,” Hal said, “What about the people?”

“I don’t see why they can’t come and go after decon…”

“Right,” Hal said, “Do we have anything long term?”

“We can have something from Wayne industries there in an hour,” Martian Manhunter said.

“OK folks…” Hal announced, “It’s not that we don’t trust you… but your forest is full of alien life that we don’t know how it will react with local life… So we are going to put up a barrier to quarantine your forest from the city… Don’t worry, Intelligent life will be allowed to exit the forest after they have passed decontamination protocols.  I have been informed that the JLA is already looking into helping you get to this Eternia place….  Is that good for everyone?”

There were knodding heads. Hal floated up and pointed his fist at the forest.  A biodome with an deconatimation airlock appeared around the forrest.  Hal tapped his ring.

“Get the other two down here with their laterns, we are going to need to work in shifts,” Hal told the ring.

*

Adora watched the clear green dome form around the whispering woods… Maybe finding refuge here on Earth would be just as good if not better than on Eternia… But she wasn’t sure… What if these Earth people couldn’t return them to Eternia when the Horde’s weapon was done destroying and rebuilding her adopted home of Etheria….

“Bow,” Adora said, “I want you to organize security patrols in the woods to insure the safety of our people. I am going to meet with the leaders of this world. I must plead for their aid and co-operation.”

“Adora no…” Bow started.

“Shouldn’t we go with you?” Kowl asked.

“What if it’s a trap deary?” Madame Razz asked.

“I must plead our case before the leaders of this world,” Adora said, “I don’t trust them entirely… so I want you here ready to defend our people.”

The Rebels all knodded in agreement.  Adora took a deep breath and walked towards the room that served as a gateway to the outside world.

“This is my mother’s homeworld…” Adora told herself, “Let’s see what it’s like…”

Adora stepped into the room and a set of doors closed behind her.  A green light blinded her for a second and then the doors in front of her opened.  Adora stepped out on the black road that layed before her.  It was so different than any road built by Etherians or the Horde… And yet it was clearly a road, built and layed out for people to transverse in vehicles…   Adora walked over to the red and blue man and his companion, the red haired woman in the fur two piece outfit.

“I suppose I must meet with the leadership for this world…” Adora took a deep breath.

A man in blue and a woman in grey and black stepped forward.

“Well absent the mayor…” the man in blue said, “I am the senior police officer for the city and this is the head of the State Police Barracks…

“What happened to the Mayor?” Adora asked.

“They were in a meeting in city hall when it switched places with this forest,” the man said, “We can escort you to meet with higher level leadership, but we will need to send word up the chain of command…”

“Ah, Do you have a change of clothes miss?” the woman in the grey and black outfit asked.

“I can ask if any of the officers have a change in her size…” the man with a red face.

“What is wrong with how I am dressed?” Adora asked not understanding...

Her question was met with unmet looks away from her.  Finally the red head called Giganta threw up her hands and shouted.

“Fine, I am the convicted super villain so I will say it,” she turned to Adora, “You might be dressed normally where you are from, but around here you are dressed like you want to have sex.  If you want to be taken serious around here you need some pants, or at least a skirt that covers your thighs.”

Adora looked around and realized it.  She had been use to boys and men letting their eyes linger on her ample chest… She was always pretty among human women… but men and women were glaring at her thighs with lust in their eyes.   Raw, naked, burning lust.  Then Adora looked at Giganta.

“What about how you are dressed?” Adora rebuked her.

“Honey,” Giganta put her arm on the red and blue man’s shoulder, “I was trying to seduce my probation officer when you folks showed up…”

“I’m not actually her probation officer… I just check in on her to make sure she stays out of trouble…” the man in the red and blue outfit sputtered.

The Police Officer and the State Police commander both glared at Giganta and the man.

“Oh relax,” Giganta said as she played with her hair, “I can’t seem to get him to join the dark side… but is dragging me over to the dork side…”

“So I need pants?” Adora asked trying to move on beyond the awkward situation, “is the rest of my outfit ok?”

“I think most people here would agree it would be better on the floor at the foot of their bed honey…” Giganta smiled, “Heck I bet you could bend a straight girl with a smile.  Speaking of which, you going to give it to me tonight or should I ask her out?”

“How about we get some clothes that are more in line for a leader,” Adora said, “And not too enticeing…”

“Well I hate to say it,” the man in blue and red frowned, “I don’t know of any normal shop that would be open right now…”

“Oh!” Giganta smirked, “There’s a leather shop three streets over that’s still open. I am sure they have pants or a skirt that would fit her.”

The woman from the State police smacked her face with the palm of her hand.
