Storm sat in the escape pod, the cold darkness of space all around her.
"What am I to do?" she thought as she piloted the bug shaped ship. "A life grows within me. An egg implanted by the Mother Queen of the Brood. It has joined its essence to mine. It spreads through my body and soul, like some loathsome disease, corrupting
everything it touches, reshaping me in it's own image."
A single tear dripped from her eye, "But it is not a disease, it is a sentient being." She thought, and more and more Ororo realized she could not kill this thing inside her, it would destroy everything she ever stood for, and she'd rather die than do that.
It was what the Brood was waiting for, her mind was accepting of her own fate, of her replacement with a loyal Brood Queen. A Queen who's genetic code would carry with it Storm's power to any children that she had. Perhaps diluted, but power none the less.
"My hands," was the first though that crossed Ororo's mind, as she felt them changing. She watched as they burst their gloves and became tentacles, as she cried out, "Noooooooo!" it was her last thought as she fell to the ground, clutching herself.
The brood spread quickly, transforming her body as well as corrupting her soul. Her legs began to merge together, even as barbed spikes grew from them. Her face began to stretch and change, as she felt her teeth grow long.
But it was when her eyes opened, never able to be closed again, large and orb like, solid, that she really saw things as they were.
She was the Storm-Queen, a mother to the Brood she would spread their parasitic race across the galaxy. She served her Empress and happily embraced her role.
She also knew now about the lesser known, and even more guarded ability of the strongest willed Brood being able to assume a human form. Of course that almost seemed insulting to her perfect, Brood form.
She needed to get back to the ship, where her fellow sisters should be undergoing their own transformations soon. She mourned for the loss of the one that Wolverine's skeleton and healing factor had killed. How dare he murder a Brood Queen, Storm-queen would
make him pay.

Meanwhile, back on the ship, Kitty had been undergoing her own dreams, as the Brood tried to take her place in her mind. She and all of the X-Men (including the men) had been infected with Brood Queens, as those queens could carry with them their powers.
The Brood part of her recognized that it only made sense that Mutants and Super-Humans should be Queens. Her mind began to twist into the superiority of the female gender. When she realized this was happening began to sink further in to despair.
Unlike our reality, Storm would not reappear to give her hope.
Kitty also didn’t know that Professor Xavier had been infected too, and back on Earth he was assembling ‘New Mutants’ to carry on his Brood legacy as well.
