At his jungle hideout, deep in the Savage Land, Sergei Kravinoff, better known as Kraven the Hunter, ponders his life. Ever since his ressurection, he has had to fear death from only one prey, Spider-Man. Nothing else on Earth could kill him. And since he
had to kill hsi wife, Sasha, when she complained about proving herself worthy of the Kravinoff name, he was feeling a stirring. He needed female companionship.
His former lover, Calypso, had not been seen since a confrontation with Spider-Man and Daredevil. And Gwen Stacy, who he intended to make his mate at one time was long dead, killd by the Green Goblin. Kraven knew, that to find a worthy mate, he needed one
with the spirit of a jungle cat. He knew of two, and they were both at the same location.
Tigra, a longtime member of the Avengers, who he had encountered on more than one occassion. She was now serving as a faculty member at the Avengers Academy, alongside her current lover, Hank Pym.
White Tiger, the latest to hold that name, inheriting that role from her brother. She was younger, and a less experienced heroine than Tigra, and is a student at the Avengers Academy.
Kraven knew that the academy was in California, a continent away from Spider-Man. He had hunted Tigra there once before, when she was a member of the Avengers West Coast team. And the Avengers were recovering from a major battle with the Phoenix Force and
the X-Men, so now was the time to strike.
