The Infinity Gemstones began as aspects of a lonely and omnipotent being which commited sucide before the end of the universe and beginning of a new one. Which is why they tend to be attuned to one universe, and do not work in others. Or at least without work.

 Most of the time the Universe it emerges into is the Marvel one or one connected/fused with it. Yet not everytime... with infinite realities and universes, there is an infinite chance for this happens. For the stones to arrive into an unusual reality.
