Batman was finishing up his routine nightly patrol, having stopped a couple would-be murderers earlier that night, when he heard a suspicious clicking noise from behind him. He spun around to confront whatever it was and was met with a strong gas sprayed directly into his face. Overwhelmed after mere moments due to the potency of the gas he crumpled to the ground, unconscious. When he awoke he was tied to a cross, his belt and shirt gone.
